Their flagship Grande Reserve Brut is sourced from Aÿ, Bouzy, Ambonnay, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger (all GC's) and Villers-Marmery (1er Cru) and blends 45/45/10 Chardonnay / Pinot Noir / Pinot Meunier, with approximately 15% reserve wines. The current bottle in market was based on 2018, and was disgorged in January 2022 with 8 g/L. As is the house style, this was fermented in stainless, with no MLF. The treatment keeps this Classic NV Brut fresh and linear, with red and green apple, light toast wrapping around a lemony core, all braced with bright acidity. Confident and classic, with a strident freshness thanks to its recent dosage. Crisp green apple, lemon, and subtly toasted brioche sit atop a lightly creamy base, with well proportioned lees buffering the shining acidity. The finish lingers with a chalky buzz. The Grand Reserve Brut is sourced almost entirely from premier cru and grand cru vineyards (10 villages in total), with a cepage of 40/40/15/5 chardonnay / pinot noir / pinot meunier /pinot blanc, fermented in stainless, and with no MLF. Classic and stately, a tightly perfumed nose of brioche, lemon blossoms, green apple, pine nut opens this flagship brut. Though the palate still feels tightly structural and and highly strung, nearly four years on the lees base this wine. River stones and white flowers hum along the grippy finish. This bottle was based on 2010, with '11 and '09 playing supporting reserve wine roles. It was disgorged in late 2018 and is dosed with 8 g/L. Very confident and classic, with green apple, lemon pith and peel, toasted brioche across a creamy base. Champagne, FranceThe Grande Reserve is a mix of three vintages and a 45/45/10 blend of three grape varieties: chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier. The winery adds somewhere between 10 to 12 percent reserve wine from two vintages that gets a full 48 months on the lees. The winemaking style is reductive and the wine does not go through a malolactic fermentation which reinforces a house style based on freshness. The nose is a mix of prominent citrus with bits of red fruits and leesy bread dough. The attack is similar with fresh, juicy, citrus, crunchy apple flecked with floral, mineral, cherry, gingerbread flavours that end in a long, persistent, refined, elegant finish. Impressive, stylish, non-vintage bubble that jumps the category in my estimation. This has the weight to stand up to numerous food types; we enjoyed it post tasting with fresh oysters on the half shell and avocado toast.Tasted: 09 December 2017Tasted by: Prices:

Champagne, FranceIt was fun to rediscover this sparkler after several years. The blend, including a portion of old-oak aged wine is roughly one half chardonnay, one third pinot noir and the remainder pinot meunier and a dash of pinot gris including 10-12 percent reserve wine from two vintages.
