Wolf Blass Platinum Label Medlands Estate Shiraz 2009

Barossa Valley, South Australia, AustraliaThe first Platinum Label was first created in 1998 to celebrate shiraz and Barossa. Ever since most of the fruit comes off Medlands Estate 'The Orchard' vineyard, in the north-central Barossa Valley. An old Tolley vineyard it has been completely replanted to shiraz since 1995. Each block is fermented separately and matured in one year-old French barriques for about 20 months before a final assemblage. The nose is aggressively fragrant and spicy with hints of chocolate, cedar and blueberries. The palate is similar with fresh, tart chocolate covered blueberries and soft tannins. The finish is long warm and persistent with just a few fine grained tannins to shed. Lamb or venison are your best dinner matches or serve with a piece of aged hard cheeses.Tasted: 23 September 2012Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
