Il Pino di Biserno 2008
Bolgheri, Tuscany, ItalyIl Pino di Biserno is a solid jump up from Insoglio del Cinghiale trading its woodsy rustic shirt for a more elegant urbane styling. The mix of cabernet franc (35%), cabernet sauvignon (35%), merlot (20%) and petit verdot (10) is all grown at Bibbona in the Upper Maremma. The less is more philosophy begins only 65 per cent oak both new and used allowing an inviting savoury floral character to come to the fore. The palate is a glossy concern (a la Michel Rolland) of blueberries, dark red fruits and dark chocolate flecked with liquorice. Drinkable now but really this wine needs a decade to shine in bottle.Tasted: 08 July 2012Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $70.00 | 750ml | speculative listing - Trialto Wine Group |
