Tinhorn Creek Oldfield's Collection Merlot (Stelvin) 2001
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaPart of a recent comparison (see note for cork finished 2001). This wine is on the down slope now showing more earth, black olive and liquorice notes than any real fruit at this stage. After a decade in bottle it is showing more fruit than the version under cork but it is ready to drink and preferably with a finely sauced meat dish.Tasted: 02 June 2012Tasted by: Prices:

Tinhorn Creek Oldfield's Collection Merlot (Stelvin) 2001
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaVery spicy, black olive, licorice, black cherry, compost aromas with lots of spicy clove, vanilla, coffee undertones but somewhat hot. After one year, screw cap appears spicier and a bit fruitier and even a bit reduces compared to cork and with less green notes. Very rich, round, smooth palate with quite grainy tannins. Big coffee, smoky oak, vanilla, peppery, black olive, clove and black cherry flavours. Quite hot but has good balance overall and nicer mouth feel. Will definitely improve.Tasted: 05 August 2004Tasted by: Prices:
