d'Arenberg Shiraz The Dead Arm 2008

McLaren Vale, South Australia, AustraliaThe Dead Arm reference is to Eutypa Lata a disease that afflicts some of the oldest vines at d'Arenberg from whence this wine comes. The short term effect is low yields and superb juice before eventually the vine succumbs to the disease. Look for peppery, black raspberry fruit nose with smoky, meaty coriander notes. The attack is rich and warm with spicy, blueberry/blackberry meaty flavours flecked with orange and five spice. Super quality here that finishes fresh and long.Tasted: 17 June 2012Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
