Veneto, ItalyThe '09 appears equal to the very good '08 showing as much sweetness as you could expect from Valpolicella while remaining essentially as dry as any Italian wine can be. The mix of mostly corvina Veronese with rondinella and molinara is typically mostly aged in large Slavonian oak casks - 25 percent spends 18 months in French oak. Veneto, ItalyAfter a disastrous 06 the Secco-Bertani '08 appears back to normal. The blend is a mix of corvina Veronese 70%, rondinella 25% and molinara 5%. Some 75% of the wine is aged in large Slavonian oak casks, 25% in French oak barriques for about 18 months. Expect a sweet, round, smoky savoury fruit nose and palate with a smooth, silky texture and cherry jam flavours.
