O. Fournier Centauri Red Blend 2009
Valle del Maule, Region del Valle Central, ChileThe blend results from a single tasting done during the only racking after one year. The blend favours the house style that is terroir/site-driven, food friendly and capable of aging as opposed to the fruitier style. In 2009 the blend is 45 percent 120-years old cabernet franc, 25 percent merlot, 20 percent cabernet sauvignon with only 10 percent carignan due to a tough year for the carignan. The nose is surprisingly floral and spicy with hints of black fruit. The palate is huge with warm rich fruit characters and quite a lot of power but the tannins are soft and the acidity adequate. A more new world blend this time out with rich smooth velvety fruit and plenty of alcohol. Try this one with lamb.Tasted: 02 April 2012Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:US | $27.00 | 750ml | srp |
