O. Fournier Centauri Carignan Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2008

Valle del Maule, Region del Valle Central, ChileThe blend results from a single barrel tasting done during a single racking and the blending favour the house style that is terroir/site-driven and food friendly that age as opposed to the fruitier style. The '08 Centauri mixes 45/30/25 carignan, cabernet sauvignon and merlot given 28 days of total maceration before aging 12 months in first and second year old French barrels. The nose is a mix of black fruits with hints of iodine and dried herbs. The attack is fresh with fine minerality and floral notes that precede its chalky soft tannins textures. The fruit is black and juicy with more savoury grilled meat notes in the finish. Another Maule red blend that over delivers for the price.Tasted: 02 April 2012Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
