O. Fournier Alfa Centauri Sauvignon Blanc 2009
Valle de Leyda, Valle de San Antonio, Region de Aconcagua, ChileThe '09 Alfa sauvignon is culled from a smaller part of the vineyard with slightly lower yields. Jose Manuel Ortega respects the Didier Dagueneau method so the wine is all barrel-fermented for 12 months in new 500-litre French oak. The lees is worked for about nine months to add texture and mouthfeel and to balance the intense yellow fruit flavours flecked with dried herbs and tinned asparagus juiced. A paradigm shift for Chilean sauvignon because it will age. This style has a bright future. Well done.Tasted: 02 April 2012Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:US | $20.00 | 750ml | srp |
