O. Fournier Alfa Centauri Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc Merlot 2008
Valle del Maule, Region del Valle Central, ChileThis wine has been well decorated and rightly so. The nose is all about the franc with its menthol savoury, bay leaf notes. I can't say it's my favourite style but it's typical and correct. The colour is opaque and as brooding as its dark peppery, black liquorice and black fruit flavours. Again the dried herbs and spice dominate the fruit but the old 100-125-year old vines add a lushness and vibrato to this wine that resonates throughout the finish. Best with grilled meats now but you could easily cellar it through 2018. Aged 18 months in new French oak barrels and bottled unfined and unfiltered.Tasted: 02 April 2012Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:US | $55.00 | 750ml | srp |
