Champagne Moët & Chandon Brut Impérial Vintage 2002

Champagne, FranceThe Moet 'vintage' cuvée is almost always released to market after five years of ageing but the 2002 has been resting much longer in Reims in fact well after the 2003 hit the market. At 51 percent chardonnay 26/23/ pinot noir and pinot meunier it was showing too much fruit and not enough toast and weight in the early years. Now nearly nine years down the road the wine has a wonderful mix of biscuit-y toasted lees and dried fruit aromas with a fruity spicy undercurrent. The attack is harmonious with bits of mandarin, citrus and toasted almonds. The textures are suitably creamy and the flavours persistent. Ready to drink and enjoy now. An elegant, refined champagne in a slightly fruiter style.Tasted: 11 March 2012Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
