Casa Lapostolle Clos Apalta 2008
Apalta Valley, Santa Cruz, Valle del Colchagua, Valle del Rapel, Region del Valle Central, ChileThis old vines blend is dominated by carmenère with some merlot and cabernet sauvignon. Very savoury, leather, sappy, cedar, menthol, black olive, tobacco, carrot top, chocolate, cassis, black cherry, rooty aromas. Ripe, round, full, juicy and dry palate with some grainy tannin. Menthol, chocolate, leather, rosemary, bay, peppery, vanilla, olive, tobacco and coffee flavours with a savoury, carrot top note. Good finesse and balance with full body but somewhat austere. Needs 3-5 years to fully round out. This certainly reveals the best side of carmenère.Tasted: 05 March 2012Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $99.99 | 750ml | specialty listing |
