Beringer Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Appellation Collection 2009

Knights Valley, Sonoma County, California, United StatesI have always enjoyed the half Napa, half mountain, half Sonoma character of Knights' Valley cabernet and this 2009 has it all with a kinder gentler edge. Beringer Vineyards has owned and farmed its Knights Valley vineyards since the mid-1960' and nothing is left to chance. The volcanic, well-drained soils are the perfect home to cabernet sauvignon and in this case four percent cabernet franc and two percent petit verdot. Small French Nevers oak barrels (28% new) perfectly fi this wine. Love the smooth polished textures and the cocoa powder, black cherry fruit flavours. Perfect to drink now but this will hold through 2016 and beyond. Great restaurant wine list pick.Tasted: 13 March 2012Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
