Brancaia Ilatraia Maremma 2009
Maremma, Tuscany, ItalyIlatraia, Brancaia's Maremma project has tweaked the grape mix since the first release in 2002. The '09 is a clever mix of 60/20/20 cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and petit verdot. The style is sophisticated with ripe blueberry fruits flecked with leather and smoky coffee bits. Dense round lush and while young you can drink it now. Expect this to improve for at least five or six years in bottle. Classy red.Prices:BC | $77.00 | 750ml |

Brancaia Tre 2009
Tuscany, ItalyTre, not surprisingly is a mix of three grapes: 80/10/10 sangiovese, merlot and cabernet sauvignon picked from three separate estates in Castellina, Radda, Morellino di Scansano. There is much more elegance here than in earlier versions. Love the open fresh savoury cran-cherry floral fruit nose flecked with liquorice and tobacco. More cassis and smoky, cherry liquorice flavours and an alcohol level in check. Classic Tuscan red made for pastas and or chicken.Prices:BC | $25.00 | 750ml |

Catena Alta Chardonnay 2008
Tupungato, Valle de Uco, Tunuyán, Central Region, Mendoza, ArgentinaOh my, the Alta Chardonnay is amazing. Made lovingly with 100 per cent high altitude fruit (4,800'+) grown at the Adrianna vineyard in Tupungato this chardonnay should a scare the French. It's 100 per cent barrel fermented in French oak and while it's rich and mouth-filling the oak is not an issue. What you will love is the mealy, leesy, broioche that lays under ripe, red apple fruit that is persistent from front to back. Flecks of spice and butter and apricots only complex the slightly sweet finish. Fabulous value here in a terrific modern chardonnay with an Old World twist. This should be a wine list standard wherever the food is smart. Super value.Prices:BC | $35.00 | 750ml |
