Piedmont, ItalyI must confess I have only just encountered the wines of Azelia owned by Luigi Scavino the cousin of Enrico Scavino of the Paolo Scavino estate. The "Bricco dell'Oriolo" is a stunning dolcetto. Soft silky and sensuous it is one of the best balanced reds I have ever tasted. The acidity is perfectly in check while the fruit is fashionably forward. There's plenty of finesse for the price not to mention authenticity.
