Etude Pinot Noir 2008

Carneros, Napa Valley, California, United StatesThe Etude pinot is grown at the Grace Benoist Vineyard in the northwest corner of Carneros on well-drained, rocky upland soils. In all there are 30 parcels, on six soil types, using nine clones and nine heirloom pinot selections. Only the best casks are selected after 12-14 months in French oak. Look for a darkish ruby colour and a sweet pinot, cherry jam confiture nose and palate with a thread of rooty spicy notes throughout. It's clear the site is cool (in fact it's the back door to the windy Petaluma Gap) lending the wine elegance to go with its finesse and soft tannins.Tasted: 06 November 2011Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
