Penfolds Bin 138 Shiraz - Mourvèdre - Grenache 2007
Barossa Valley, South Australia, AustraliaPeppery, pruny, dried cherry nose flecked with tobacco, spicy floral, black cherry aromas. Dry, round and very warm palate but supple. Small old oak is used here to expose the black cherry, black raspberry, and peppery fruit with liquorice, smoky, resin flavours. Very good fruit and smooth but very hot on the finish. The first SGM was made in 1992 although the grapes have been in the ground for decades. The wine was elevated to the Bin range in 1998: Penfolds Bin 138 all sourced from old, low-yielding Barossa Valley vines.Tasted: 27 October 2009Tasted by: Prices:BC | $35.00 | 750ml | specialty listing |
