Masi Riserva di Costasera Amarone Classico 2005
Veneto, ItalyCostasera Riserva is a special cuvée of the flagship Costasera Amarone. It's grown on south facing hillside vineyards that face the "sera" or the sunset. It's made using the ancient Oseleta, re-discovered by Masi, and using a long appassimento process lasting more than 120 days in new 600L oak barrels. Look for a spicy, gamey, meaty, black cherry jam nose with pepper, tobacco, dried herb, plum and chocolate aromas. Rich, round, full, warm slightly tannic palate. Big tobacco, peppery, prune, soy, dark chocolate, earthy, black cherry and almond flavours. Lots of concentration and flavours with a warm finish. Will be better in another five years and should keep for 20 years.Tasted: 08 August 2011Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $77.00 | 750ml | speculative - Authentic Wine and Spirits |
