Chateau de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2009
Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceThe regular Beaucastel Blanc is an 80/15 mix if roussanne and grenache blanc whose vines are between 10 and 40 years old with a dollop of the famed 'Vieilles Vignes' cuvée and other white grapes. Some 30% of wine is fermented in old wood the rest in stainless steel while about half is aged in French oak for 8 months. The nose is an aromatic painting of tangerine rinds and honey. The plate weighty but fresh with big minerality and more tropical orange and pineapple notes. It goes on and on. Delicious wine from a great year.
