Central Coast, California, United StatesThe 09 Robert Mondavi 'private selection' chardonnay has always been good value and '09 continues the tradition, just do not confuse it with the Napa wines. The fruit is mostly Central Coast or Monterey and production is big. That said the wine has solid varietal character, low-ish alcohol and mixes ripe apples, bananas, citrus, vanilla and spice in a mid-white that is made for lightly spiced seafood, chicken or pasta dishes.
