Alvear C. B. Fino NV
Montilla-Moriles, SpainMontilla-Moriles is in some ways the forgotten wine of Andalucía. It's production mirrors Jerez with the same grapes, 'flor' yeast and ageing in a Solera cask system. The difference is alcohol. There is no fortification here only natural levels (15%). Fresh citrus nutty lemony flavours permeate its palate and aftertaste. This wine cries out for a salty appetizer. The C.B. refers to Winemaster Carlos Billanueva who in the early 19th century marked the casks containing the best wines with his initials.Tasted: 12 May 2011Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $18.00 | 500ml | speculative listing - Pacific Wines & Spirits |
