Ornellaia 2007
Bolgheri, Tuscany, ItalyWe are bit late getting to this wine but patience has its rewards. The '07 is a 55/27/14/4/blend of cabernet sauvignon/merlot/cabernet franc/petit verdot and it delivers. It was an excellent year with no over ripe characters that led to a spectacular Bordeaux-like wine with that savoury, Mediterranean/Bolgheri undercurrent. The wine spends 30 months in wood and bottle before release. Love the deep, intense, dark fruit, characters with a twang of acidity or balsamic notes.
