Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalTwenty years in barrel has effected a dramatic drop in colour in this wine. Plums and apricots precede a nutty, rancio, toffee nose with bits of orange peel, prune and creamy aromas. The style is on the drier side with light sweetness and excellent finesse. Look for warm plum, apricot, honey, butter, rancio, walnut tones that mellow in the finish. Some bottle variation here but we loved sipping this seductive style.Tasted: 15 December 2017Tasted by: Prices:

Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalNice brick amber colour with a green edge. Very nutty, rancio, toffee, spicy, peppery, orange peel, prune, creamy aromas with a light spirity note. Again, drier style with light sweetness but good finesse. Warm with honey, buttery, rancio, walnut, earthy, tobacco, peppery, prune and cedar flavours. Good complexity and finesse for drinking anytime with nuts or cheese. This particular bottle is showing signs of tiredness compared to last year's excellent tasting at 94 points.Tasted: 02 December 2010Tasted by: Prices:
