Black Rock Red Blend 2007

Stellenbosch, Coastal Region, South AfricaIn a country where the SA wine selection is pathetic it is nice to know there are some excellent bottles to be had if you take the time to search the private wine stores. The Black Rock Red Blend is a 69/14/11/3/3/ mix of six vineyards and shiraz, carignan, grenache, mourvèdre and viognier from the Perdeberg-Swartland appellation. Hand made with co-fermented grenache and carignan. The original trial was in 2001 the first bottling in 2004. The colour is black blue with wild, gamy, spicy liquorice aromas mixed with blueberries, chocolate and floral notes and a hint of feinbos. A super effort with elegance and style. Wow a super deal for $20.Tasted: 27 December 2010Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
