Louis Jadot Savigny-Les-Beaune Clos des Guettes 1er Cru (Domaine Gagey) 2006

Savigny-lès-Beaune, Côte de Beaune, Côte d'Or, Burgundy, FranceSpicy, floral, stony, gamey, smoky, compost, cherry, barnyard aromas. Dry, light, fresh and delicate but somewhat thin. Tobacco leaf, spicy, smoky, raspberry, mineral, barnyard, gamey flavours. Fresh, simple, easy style with a bit of tannin on the finish. Drink now or over the next two years. Aux Guettes is an extensive vineyard lying at the northern edge of Savigny of which 33.5 acres, nearly all its area, are classified premier cru. The name, related to the verb "guetter," meaning "to watch over," may have to do with this vineyard's position high on the slope. Exposed due south, its iron-rich soils yield ripe, substantial, yet stylish wines. Domaine Gagey is proprietor of 6.5 acres in this cru planted predominantly to Pinot Noir Tasted: 16 November 2010Tasted by: Stuart TobePrices:
