Giuseppe Mascarello Barolo Monprivato Riserva Ca D'Morissio 2001

Castiglione Falletto, Cuneo, Piedmont, ItalyCascina Mascarello or Cà d'Morissio in the Piedmontese dialect is a single block in the Monprivato vineyard from a special single clone of nebbiolo. The nose is floral with waxy, meaty, cherry jam, tobacco, liquorice, cooked carrot, tar, sage and dried herb aromas. Dry, full and round but somewhat austere with good acidity. Prune, smoky, rooty, cherry, liquorice, meaty, tobacco, resin, tar flavours. Gripp-y and still young, this needs 3-15 years. There is intensity and finesse here but it of gaminess. Try it with venison.Tasted: 01 November 2010Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
