Drouhin Vaudon Chablis Grand Cru Vaudésir 2008

Chablis, Burgundy, FranceFrom 65-year old vines grown in an amphitheatre-like setting. Spicy, floral, honey, guava, vanilla, seashell, oyster, lime, green apple, light lees aromas. Rich, ripe, full, juicy fresh palate but bigger and somewhat more austere at this stage. Vanilla, lees, waxy, spicy, honey, baked green apple, lime, oyster shell, seaweed, floral flavours. Long with fine concentration and intensity and plenty of acidity. Seems more forward but also more powerful, one to age 3-7 years. Good value here. The site has been organic since 1990 and biodynamic since 1999.Beginning with the 2008 vintage the name "Vaudon" will be associated with Joseph Drouhin for all its Chablis denoting Drouhin's historical link to the Moulin de Vaudon, the property of Joseph Drouhin and home to the Grand Cru vineyards in the heart of their 38 hectare estate.Tasted: 27 October 2010Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
