Ridge Montebello Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

Santa Cruz Mountains, San Francisco Bay, California, United StatesAt only 13.1% alcohol the aromas flavours are quite a feat. Blackberry, cassis, smoky, vanilla, waxy, barnyard, leather, tobacco, iodine, meaty, peppery aromas. Ripe, rich, round, dry and fresh palate with good finesse and grainy tannins. Peppery, cassis, vanilla, clove, creamy, boysenberry, spicy, black olive, tobacco and coffee flavours. Good length and finesse with a very fresh finish with tight tannins and some mineral, cedar notes. Needs another 4-10 years to integrate. A bit fresher acidity than normal perhaps but otherwise easily among the best cabernet made in California and likely the rest of the world too.Tasted: 23 June 2010Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
