Santa Carolina Dry Farmed Carignan 2008

Valle de Cauquenes, Valle del Maule, Region del Valle Central, ChileLast time I was in Chile the surprise was carignan. You will love the peppery, black cherry, clove, floral, sage scented fruit here flecked with bit of orange and roasted coffee bean aromas. Round, supple, easy and dry on the palate it comes with an agreeable freshness (acidity). Its orange, chalky, black raspberry jam, spicy, tobacco, herbal flavours with the light coffee notes and a savoury finish flashes the buy signal. Simple but well made with solid fruit expression and intensity. Grown on dry-framed, 80+ year old vines. Good value.Tasted: 29 March 2010Tasted by: Stuart TobePrices:
