Tenuta Sant'Antonio Scaia Rossa 2007

Veneto, ItalyI suppose super-Vapolicella would be one way to describe the Scaia Rossa, the 100 per cent corvina that is smooth and silky from start to finish. The vines are relatively young and grown over sandy, muddy, limestone soils at 200 - 300 m above sea level. The wine sees no oak which explains the purity of fruit and its graceful expression in the mouth. It is the freshness and low alcohol that attracts you to the wine and makes you want to finish the bottle. Risotto, pasta with beans, vegetarian lasagne it will work with all of them. Charming, elegant, sip-able and best of all affordable. Great value in a real wine for the table.Tasted: 06 January 2010Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
