Frog's Leap Sauvignon Blanc 2007
Rutherford, Napa Valley, California, United StatesThis is not your average California sauvignon. It's refreshingly, well, fresh in spite of its mid-valley, 100 per cent, Rutherford fruit content. The secret is low alcohol (12.7%) and bright acidity that result in crisp flavours that winemaker John Williams claims is a little Sancerre in the first year and a lot of white Bordeaux as it ages. Production is a hefty 20,000 plus cases all made with dry farmed organically grown fruit. In short, less is more at Frog's Leap, so you can enjoy the subtle bits of lemongrass and minerally wet stone notes. A lovely seafood wine that is built to support food as opposed to overwhelm it.Tasted: 19 December 2009Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $34.00 | 750ml | speculative listing - Free House Wine & Spirits |
