Frog's Leap Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Rutherford, Napa Valley, California, United StatesThe Rutherford label is mostly cabernet, all from the Rutherford bench but the word cabernet no longer appears on the front label. The nose is described by John Williams as something out of his youth. His grandmother's sofa would yield the same scent of warm dusty earth when you rubbed your hand against the nap in the sunlight. The fruit is ripe flecked with black raspberry and liquorice with more of that dusty Rutherford character. The tannins are light and fine-grained. A delicious, elegant, subtle, balanced Napa red that has few if any peers in modern winemaking in the valley. The blend is an 87/9/4 mix of cabernet sauvignon/cabernet franc/merlot.Tasted: 19 December 2009Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
