Mitolo Sangiovese Rose 2008

McLaren Vale, South Australia, AustraliaFrom the Willunga district in the southern end of McLaren Vale this attractive pink/red rosé is made with sangiovese grapes grown on heavy loam soils over sandstone and bits of clay. The fruit is bright given the challenging year that included a record 15 day heat wave that accelerated the harvest wreaking havoc at cellar doors. Winemaker Ben Glaetzer uses whole berries and cool temperatures to lift the fruit and freshness from the grapes and keep it in the wine. Surprisingly fresh with strawberry fruit and a citrus thread that runs through the finish. The finish is bone dry and food friendly. Well done.Tasted: 18 October 2009Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
