Montes Limited Selection Sauvignon Blanc Leyda Vineyard 2008

Valle de Leyda, Valle de San Antonio, Region de Aconcagua, ChileLeyda is now firmly established as a cool-climate area in fact a sub-district of San Antonio located very near the Chilean coast. The '08 has a terrific fresh grassy, mineral lemon nose with intense bits of lemon verbena and green fruits. The wine is oak free and shows of bits of dill, citrus, gooseberry and stony, chalky flavours in the back end. A half Sancerre half New Zealand style that makes this very food friendly. Interestingly you can buy Montes cabernet across the country but this outstanding sauvignon is no -go in most province perhaps reflecting the respective monopoly's inability to lead and or support trends such as Unoaked, sauvignon from cool sites.Tasted: 19 July 2009Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
