Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe Enns, David and Cynthia have hit a home run with this year's Blind Trust a 65/18/13/4 mix of pinot gris, viognier, pinot blanc and sauvignon blanc and, whoops, I should have let you guess because the names do not appear on the label. Gazela Vinho Verde NV
Vinho Verde, Northern Portugal, PortugalAs winemakers continue to over manipulate so many modern white wines the appeal of simple vinho verde, the green wine of Portugal, continues to soar. Look for traces of green melon, mineral salts and nutty notes. Colourless yet fresh with a hint of CO2 that refreshes the mid-palate and highlights its feint fruit. As I like to say citrus water is a good description of this wine that if served al fresco with the right, light summer salads can be fun and very refreshing. Perfect for the hot nights on the patio.Prices:BC | $9.99 | 750ml |

Stork's Tower Sauvignon Blanc - Verdejo 2008
Castilla-Leon, SpainSpain is getting in on the fresh white wine kick with this interesting blend of sauvignon and verdejo creating an aromatic wine with a sense of harmony and balance. The entry is a mix of grassy peachy fruit with bits of citrus rind and green apple skin in the finish. I served this with a grilled chicken salad and it was perfect. The sauvignon and verdejo fruit comes off several sites including some in Rueda. Good value. The Diam cork assures the wine will never be musty but it's a drag to extract. A screwcap would double sales next year.Prices:BC | $15.00 | 750ml |

Very attractive style if a tad warm. It will age well. According ot Neil Empsom, "The blend now known as Vintage Tunina was first produced in 1973. However, its first official release under this name was in 1975. A pet name for Antonia, "Tunina" was the first owner of this vineyard. Another "Tunina" lived in the 1700s, and was the only lover of Casanova's to have been of humble birth - working as housekeeper for an illustrious Venetian family. To this intriguing and romantic figure, Silvio Jermann dedicated Vintage Tunina."Prices:BC | $80.00 | 750ml |

Le Volte 2007
Tuscany, ItalyThe '07 harvest was kinder to the late ripening cabernet sauvignon than merlot in Bolgheri but in the case of Le Volte it is the sangiovese (51%) that carries this edition that mixes (34%) merlot with (15%) cabernet sauvignon. The wine gets about ten months of ageing in older Masseto and Ornellaia barrels. You notice a fragrance and freshness seldom seen in New World reds not to mention a sense of blance and harmony that keeps you coming back to the glass.
