E.Guigal Hermitage 2003
Hermitage, Northern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FrancePhilippe Guigal uses 50 per cent new oak with 50 per cent one-year-old wood. Look for a huge vanilla nose overtop of some rich plummy fruit. This is a classical vintage with big structure and phenolics but a reasonable 13 per cent alcohol. The crop size was only 60 per cent of normal leading to dense concentrated fruit flavours with smoke and liquorice undercurrents and touch of smoked meat. Fine bright fresh mineral finish. Needs time but will be a great bottle.Tasted: 13 April 2009Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $110.00 | 750ml | speculative listing - Grady Wine Marketing |
