Highland Estates Camelot Highlands Chardonnay 2007

Santa Maria Valley, Santa Barbara County, Central Coast, California, United StatesCamelot Highlands is all Block M, a 100-per cent clone four chardonnay plantation on the Santa Maria Bench. The nose is a sensational mix of oatmeal, subtle oak and vanilla with bits of spicy butter and mineral orange flecks. The palate is a creamy mix of pineapple, papaya, citrusy lime notes along with a spicy, creamy caramel/crème brûlée finish. Perhaps the best finesse yet with only 55 per cent new French oak in the barrel ferment. A team effort from the nursery to the vineyard to the barrel making and it is all coming together in the wine. A first class chardonnay that over delivers for the price.Tasted: 04 January 2009Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
