Barossa Valley, South Australia, AustraliaThe Hales comes with 6 per cent mourvèdre and 4 per cent grenache "you have to work the palate," says Binder. The nose is a rooty, cedar, black berry, black raspberry, licorice affair with spicy undertones. Round, dry, slightly tart and warm on the palate it packs fairly light tannins. Licorice, tobacco, black cherry jam make its peppery flavours.
