Cuvée du Vatican Chateauneuf-du-Pape Réserve Sixtine 2006

Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FrancePlum jam, black cherry, peppery, vanilla, chocolate, floral, sappy, tobacco, saddle leather, smoky dried herb aromas. Rich, full, round palate with good concentration and fine grained tannins but a bit chewy. Good acidity balance with big plum jam, black cherry, spicy, garrigue, vanilla, chocolate, tobacco, black olive tapenade, mineral, licorice flavours. Long, fruity, rich, very fine effort. A more modern but sophisticated use of barrique and foudre. Needs 5-10 years to fully soften.Tasted: 16 November 2008Tasted by: Stuart TobePrices:
