Ridge Three Valleys 2006
Sonoma County, California, United States"Three Valleys" is the only Ridge wine blended from multiple vineyards; the philosophy is to bottle the most appealing lots that are readily accessible. Most of the fruit comes off younger vines at Lytton while bits are gleaned from older vines grown in the Alexander Valley and Russian River valleys. Fermentation is done with the grapes naturally occurring yeast and it is aged in American oak barrels. The sixth edition of three Valleys contains its highest percentage of zinfandel yet at 80 per cent. The remainder is a mix of to petite sirah, carignane and grenache. Look for brambleberry, spicy, cedar, floral, licorice root aromas flecked with saddle leather, pepper and plum notes. The entry is supple and forward as designed but with good acidity balance. Black cherry, coffee, orange peel, vanilla, cedar and black pepper mark its stylish flavour and finish. Try to stop drinking this gem with its fine fruit and style made for current consumption.Tasted: 23 September 2008Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $35.00 | 750ml | specialty listing |
