Taylor Fladgate Special White Port NV
Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalTaylor's pioneered dry white aperitif port some sixty years ago with its Chip Dry label, first blended in 1934. Special White Port is a much sweeter version made from mostly malvasia fina grapes. A versatile aperitif, it may be drunk in the traditional way, chilled in the classic port wine glass, on its own or with a twist of lemon, accompanied by roasted almonds, olives or dry biscuits. I love it served over ice with tonic water and a twist of lime. The colour is pale, the nose sweet, rich and alcoholic. There's a floral anise flavour with just a touch of oak and caramel in the finish. Tasted: 17 August 2008Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $22.00 | 750ml | specialty listing |
