Laughing Stock Vineyards Portfolio 2006
Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaAs I mentioned last year, it is usually the latest edition of Portfolio that is the best and the reasons are simple: older vineyards, more vineyard ownership, and more experience in the winery. Winemaker David Enns has made big strides of late shaping the tannins and texture of his flagship red. The out-with-green-and-in-with-the gloss continues and the result is a better wine. Enns uses the five classic Bordeaux grapes in a 61/16/16/2/1/ mix of merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, malbec, petit verdot to shape a very solid wine. Love the ripe black fruit and the savoury mint and the rich textures. The finish is the best yet. Aged in 40 per cent new French oak; the remainder is one and two year old wood from a variety of coopers. Well done. Sensible price too.Prices:BC | $38.90 | 750ml |
