Travaglini Gattinara Riserva 2001

Gattinara, Piedmont, ItalyMade from a selection of the best grapes, aged 3 years in oak of various sizes. Smoky, light tar, curry, garrigue, orange peel, tobacco leaf, sweaty saddle, light barnyard aromas. Dry, round, good concentration with some youthful tannin and good acidity balance. Peppery, tobacco, spicy, orange, cherry jam, vanilla, coffee, and resin flavours with a bit of mineral, Band-Aid and truffle on the finish. A bit more nervy and structured than the Tre Vigne, this is similar to a quality Barbaresco. Needs 3-5 years.Tasted: 10 June 2008Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
