Montecillo Gran Reserva 2001
Rioja, SpainAll the wines are in a more Bordelais, restrained style including the use of only French oak and less alcohol than many Rioja wines. Floral, incense, earthy, barnyard, sweaty saddle, smoky, vanilla, meaty aromas with a touch of Band-Aid. Round, dry, elegant and moderately supple with a touch of tight tannins. Peppery, spicy, vanilla, tobacco, carrot, olive, cherry, sour plum flavours. Fresh acidity and a bit lean on the finish which exhibits a bit of oak and coffee. Will improve over the next 1-3 years.Tasted: 18 May 2008Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $35.99 | 750ml | specialty listing |
