Golden Mile Black Arts Fifth Element Red 2005

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe Black Arts mix of 27 lots is a 65/28/4/2/1/ blend of merlot/cabernet sauvignon/petit verdot/syrah/cabernet franc. The lots are separately fermented and they complete malolactic fermentation in a mix of new to three-year old French oak barrels. It's much cleaner than its cousin, Road 13, offering up ripe, black fruit flavours with leafy notes with pepper and cedar and vanilla. It's a bit heavy on the oak, given the fruit intensity, but it could come around after a bit more time in the bottle. Pricey.Tasted: 23 February 2008Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
