California, United StatesThis chardonnay is all Monterey fruit although somebody at the winery thinks the "California' moniker is a better selling point - not this reviewer. A cool year, this 05 has fine intensity of citrus and tropical fruit flavours mixed with a generous dose of spicy vanilla and oak. The finish is a mix of baked apples and crème brûlée.
