Frescobaldi Tenuta di Castiglioni 2005

Tuscany, ItalyTenuta di Castiglioni is the oldest Frescobaldi Estate, with roots that date back to 1032. The altitude of the 115-hectare vineyard is 200 meters. Look for peppery, dried thyme, cassis, cherry, vanilla, cedar, licorice root, wild game and forest aromas. Ripe, round, full bodied style with light, grainy tannins and good acidity but a bit chunky. Cassis, black cherry, meaty, peppery, spicy, mineral, licorice, coffee and mint flavours with a bit of black olive. Very solid, full bodied style with some tannins to shed. Needs a year or two to soften out.Tasted: 13 November 2007Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
