Oroya Special for Sushi 2005

Castilla-Leon, SpainOroya " Special for Sushi" is made by Japanese winemaker Yoko Sato, from a blend of aromatic white grapes from Spain. Airen, macabeo and muscat have been blended here in a strong tasting aromatic white with a fair bit of acidity and sweetness. I supposed you could easily see how it might stand up to wasabi and pickled ginger although I'm not sure it's any more effective than an aromatic New Zealand or B.C. white. I do like the idea of tying a food theme to the wine I believe this is extremely useful tool for the public who can be easily overwhelmed when it comes to matching food and wine.
