Chat-en-Oeuf Côtes du Ventoux 2005

Ventoux, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceI'm a fan of clever labels, especially the originals. In the case of Chat-en-Oeuf, the Châteauneuf-du-Pape sounding label, that actually comes from the less endowed Cotes de Ventoux region I have mixed emotions. I like the wine but the play on words, well; it's been done and done well by the Goats du Roam folks. But back to the wine a juicy, sweet fruit affair that revels in the magic of the 2005 harvest and some delicious tasting grenache and syrah. You shouldn't confuse its soft demeanour with bigger much more robust Châteauneuf-du-Pape but it's well worth buying and drinking. Good value. Look for it at street parties around the province.Tasted: 03 July 2007Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
