Michele Chiarlo Barolo Cerequio 2001
Piedmont, ItalyGamey, smoky, peppery, tobacco, coffee, tar, black cherry, strawberry, black olive and leather aromas with a touch of licorice. Rich, ripe, round and supple but grainy tannins and structured. Big strawberry, cherry, licorice, peppery, tobacco, black olive flavours with good acidity balance at the end. Full, ripe, fresh with ripe tannins with good aging potential. Chiarlo says this shows best in first 5 years compared to Cannubi then shuts down, then after 10 years, emerges as better than Cannubi.
